The H2 Panel

  • Increased efficiency of your wood boiler stove.
  • Easy automation and refinement of when each heating device kicks in.
  • Lets you automatically control whether you want hot water only, heating or both.
h2 panel

The H2 Panel is an ingenious device that manages and links several heat sources. Linked to your boiler control panel, it consists of a series of thermostatic valves, a controller and some pumps. The H2 Panel can then decide which heating device you would like to favour depending on water temperature and on the temperature outside.
The H2 panel will also cycle the water through the wood stove boiler until it has reached a high working temperature, say 70 degrees, and then release the heat into the rest of the heating/hot water system whilst maintaining the 70 degrees boiler temperature. Wood burns most efficiently at a high temperature and the addition of a boiler to a stove can often reduce efficiency because many stove boilers are actually in the firebox of the stove. By quickly getting the water in the wood stove boiler to a high temperature the H2 Panel increases the temperature in the firebox and so increases efficiency and reducing boiler corrosion.

The H2 Panel is very flexible and can be configured in a wide variety of ways. Here we discuss just 4 of it's preprogrammed functions. Please do be aware that the H2 Panel is able to cope with far more complex systems and arrangements - these examples are just to show the general concept:

H2 Panel function 1 - hot water only using your gas/oil boiler

You only want hot water and your wood boiler stove is not lit. The H2 Panel makes sure that the gas/oil boiler only heats up the hot water tank. When it is to temperature your gas/oil boiler switches off. No water flows through your radiator circuit or the wood boiler stove.

H2 Panel function 2 - hot water and heating using your gas/oil boiler

You want hot water and heating and your wood boiler stove is not lit. The H2 Panel makes sure that the gas/oil boiler heats up the hot water tank and your radiators. When the hot water and radiators are up to temperature your gas/oil boiler switches off.
No water flows through your wood boiler stove.

H2 Panel function 3 - hot water and heating using just your stove

You want hot water and heating. Your wood boiler stove is lit but your gas/oil boiler is off. The H2 Panel senses when the water from the stove is at the desired temperature and diverts heat to the hot water tank. When the hot water tank is up to temperature the H2 Panel then diverts heat to your radiator system.
No water flows through your gas/oil boiler.

H2 Panel function 4 - hot water and heating using your stove and gas/oil boiler

The heat from the wood boiler stove is diverted to where it is needed and the heat is topped up as necessary by the gas/oil boiler. If the stove is making enough heat then the gas/oil boiler doesn't come on at all.

We do not directly supply H2 Panels - they can only be supplied by the manufacturer to your heating engineer. All enquiries for H2 Panels should be made through your heating engineer to Heating Innovations Ltd, 01354 653854. Remember - they will only supply your heating engineer.

There are other panels available for a variety of installation types incorporating one or more boiler stoves.
The Panels are only available through experienced heating engineers.
